This programme will transform Charlton Riverside into a vibrant mixed-use area. It aims to create an exemplary new urban district of London.  

The area will become a neighbourhood - a place where people live, work and thrive. The vision includes: 

• high quality, mixed tenure residential development, integrated with other uses 
• new community facilities for existing and future residents  
• upgraded infrastructure and a revised network of streets and open spaces  
• better connections between the Riverside, Charlton, Woolwich and the rest of London 
• a focus on people's health and wellbeing and on new employment opportunities 

Charlton Riverside Supplementary Planning Document

Charlton Riverside was designated an 'Opportunity Area' by the Mayor of London in 2008. It was further defined in the 2011 London Plan. 

We prepared and adopted a Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) for Charlton Riverside in April 2012.  

We refreshed the 2012 SPD in June 2017 to prepare the Charlton Riverside Masterplan SPD 2017.
